Monthly Prose Open Mic Night
Join your fellow writers to share and appreciate prose! We encourage writers in all stages of their writing journey and career to attend. Both new writers and published authors routinely share at Prose Open Mic Nights at Manor Mill. The goal is to build a supportive and fun community of writers and provide a springboard for further connection and collaboration.
Here’s What to Expect:
You choose a piece of your prose that you feel is ready to share. Only your writing, please.
Choose a complete piece to read out loud, or a section/chapter that you’d like to share. Either choice must be under 6 minutes to read out loud.
Rehearse your piece. We hold to the time limit of 6 minutes.
Plan to speak slowly and consider your presentation, pacing, and emphasis.
You will receive lots of applause but not feedback. If you’d like specific feedback, you can solicit that from Prose Night participants as you feel comfortable.
We can accommodate 16 readers in a Prose Open Mic Night. Sign up here. [include link]
At the mid-point of the evening, we will break for a snack potluck. If you’d like to bring a snack to share you can let us know in your sign up [include the same link]
You are always welcome to attend without signing up in advance. Just walk in! If we have room on the sign up, you are welcome to read. There will always be a paper sign in sheet in the room where we are meeting at Manor Mill.
Attendees help set up and clean up. Participate in that, only if you are able and willing.
