Director's Call: Future Productions

Are you interested in directing a show that would be a good fit for Manor Mill Playhouse? We want to hear from you. Below are instructions for how to submit Director proposals.

Our Season

1. Fall production: Two weekends in October (at Oldfields School)
   • This tends to be our larger production – bigger cast, broader audience appeal, potentially bigger budget. Smaller budget musicals will be considered.
2. Spring production: Two weekends, end of April / beginning of May (at Oldfields School)
   • This can be a smaller, newer or lesser known work, but does not have to be.
3. Play readings & potential smaller-scale productions: (at the Manor Mill Loft)
   • These are no-budget, low production lift events that take place for one night with a maximum audience of 70 people. Original works are welcome here and/or an opportunity to workshop a show.

• Murder on the Orient Express (Fall 2025 – Director: Vanessa Eskridge)
• The Complete Works of Jane Austen, Abridged (Spring 2026 – Director: Matthew Sean Mitchell)
• The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (Fall 2026 – Director: Vanessa Eskridge)

How to Submit

To be considered as a Director for future MMPH productions, please submit a proposal as a PDF to mmph@manor-mill.com.

Your proposal should include the following:

1. Director Contact Info: Name, email address, phone
2. The play you would like to direct, a short synopsis, and why it would be a good fit for Manor Mill Playhouse (our audience, actors and production team)
3. A casting breakdown as you can (including age ranges, gender breakdowns, double casting options, etc.)
   1. Does your production lend itself to color-conscious and gender-inclusive casting?
   2. Are there specific casting requirements or challenges to be considered?
4. Your broad artistic vision for the play, including general scenic and production design concepts
5. Answers to the following questions:
   1. What do you anticipate as the largest production challenge for this play?
   2. Do you have a production/design staff in mind? (MMPH to have discretion over production team hires)
   3. How do you approach collaboration with your production/creative team?
6. Your directing resume
7. 2–3 theater references who we may contact (include phone number and email)
8. Anything else you would like us to know about you

MMPH accepts future production director submissions on a rolling basis.
