Matthew Roberts (They/Them), is a Senior at Hereford High School who, among many other interests, has an avid passion for photography. While originally this interest started as a hobby, Matthew was inspired by encouragement and praise from friends and family and endeavored to make an impact with their art. Matthew started selling prints of their photos as a way to spread the beautiful nature they have seen in their home and throughout the country, hone their skills as a photographer, and–most importantly–do good by donating all of their profits to the Trevor Project. To put it simply, the goals and mission of charities like The Trevor Project are not only deeply personal, but incredibly inspiring to Matthew, having personally struggled with LGBTQ identity and mental health. Many LGBTQ youths like Matthew are not as fortunate, receiving none of the support and love that allowed Matthew to develop their passions and work on projects like this. We hope that even through selling just one print, that money can go toward helping someone lacking that support. photo-synthesis.art
