We’re still sweeping, but we can almost see the floor…

We are fast and furiously plowing ahead with the back warehouse renovation — floors are done; trim is up; the two studios are getting windows this week; the barn doors are getting hung inside; and the cabinets for the kitchenette are wrapping up — it’s hard to keep up, but we’re eager to open this area up to be used. Keep an eye on our instagram feed for regular updates.

Eighth grade engineering students from the St. Paul’s Schools came on site to take measurements so they can print Manor Mill in 3D!

We’ve had lots of community groups come to enjoy the space, hosting board meetings for Sparks-Glencoe Community Planning Council (SGCPC), Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County (PABC), the Hereford branch of the Baltimore County Library, Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, as well as smaller groups like the Parkton Moms club and groups of Girl Scouts. We’ve had some great performances for our “Concert and Conversations” series, including Caleb Stine, Stringtown, the Park School Jazz Collective, and the Squeegees.

There are so many cool things on the first floor — woven baskets you can’t put down; faerie wings; marionettes; local honey products; amazing prints and cards by local artists; mill swag (of course) and so much more.

A bathroom, a bathroom! It’s true - a real sink, with real running water, toilets that flush, and doors that close. Black walnut, milled on site, was used for the slab for the vanity top and trim for baseboards and doors. A second bathroom upstairs is getting some final touches, and the last bathroom on the third floor will be framed out later this month.

Woodworking and Ceramics!

The kiln has arrived! We’ve also managed to procure a few wheels as well as two small lathes for turning. We hope to get all this running in May!
