ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS

Mandolin or Guitar Classes with Pat Hundley: 4 Classes

Starts Wednesday, April 8

Mandolin (4:00 PM – 4:45 PM)

Do you have a mandolin hanging around that's itching to be played? Does it have all eight strings? If not, bring a set of fresh strings in and we'll get it strung. Sign up for the Absolute Beginner Mandolin Class to learn the string names and how to tune them, how to play fiddle tunes and play basic chords.

Guitar (Beginner: 4:45 PM – 5:45 PM; Intermediate 5:45 - 6:45 PM)

This guitar workshop will concentrate on learning basic chords for the Beginner class and playing up to speed and alternate chords for the Intermediate class, focusing on bluegrass, folk and Americana styles. We will start with some basic songs then work together to decide what songs the group wants to learn.

Introduction to Block Printing with Critter Critter Creations

Wednesday, April 8

4:00 PM – 6:30 PM

During this introductory class on block printing, students will learn the basic process of block printing with linoleum blocks by hand. Instead of using a press, students will use other methods and tools to create a successful print from their own original design on their blocks. Students will come away from the class with a block that can be printed again and again and a finished print.

In this class you will learn the ins and outs of a modern woodworking shop. What tools do what and how to use them. Safety being key to the long term enjoyment of any woodworking endeavors will be the focus for all tools used. By the end of the class you should have all the knowledge needed to purchase and take a raw piece of lumber and turn it into whatever your imagination can come up with.

Learn the basics of Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding in this make-and-take class where you'll fabricate a dragonfly out of common kitchen utensils. Topics include welding safety, equipment, processes, technique, and basic metallurgical properties. No experience necessary, and suitable for anyone age 12 and older. Natural fiber clothing (cotton, etc.) and close toed shoes (preferably leather) required. Course is held outdoors and all equipment / materials are provided.

“I try to take things I love and use them in a new way,” said triple Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Peter Case of his 16th solo album Doctor Moan. Case brings his considerable songwriting ability to an 11-song collection, largely performed on piano, including his first solo recorded instrumental. Released by Sunset Blvd Records, Case’s piano-based songs are emotionally, sonically and stylistically rich. As a founding member of the early punk era trio The Nerves, in 1977 Case toured the nation sharing bills with the Ramones, Mink DeVille, Pere Ubu, and Devo. LOW TICKETS!
