In 2025, Manor Mill and the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) partnered to secure grant funding aimed at enhancing Manor Mill's environmental impact and educational mission.
The initiative centers on the Clear Creeks Project, a grant-funded, citizen-based initiative to restore the water quality throughout the Gunpowder Watershed.
The BayWise grant — funded by the Chesapeake Bay Trust, Clean Green, The Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund, and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources — supported native plant installations, rain gardens and micro-bioretention practices, stormwater management and filtration systems, and water and wildlife protection measures at Manor Mill.
These improvements beautify the property and help Manor Mill contribute to better, more resilient stormwater management for cleaner, clearer streams and a cleaner, clearer Chesapeake Bay.
