A beautiful setting — and a physical one.
Manor Mill's overnight retreats take place at historic Oldfields School in Glencoe, Maryland — a serene campus of gracious buildings nestled among quiet hills. It is a genuinely lovely place to spend a few days, and we want you to arrive knowing exactly what to expect so you can prepare and participate comfortably.
Like many historic campuses, Oldfields was built long before modern accessibility standards. Please keep the following in mind:
Getting around requires physical stamina: the walk from the parking field to registration is approximately a quarter mile, and the event involves considerable walking between buildings across sloping grounds each day.
Expect stairs everywhere: every building on campus — including reception areas, the lecture hall, dining hall, and dormitories — has stairways. Rodney Hall is the only building with an elevator; its location relative to other buildings is marked on your campus map. Handicap-accessible restrooms are limited throughout the campus.
Come prepared for the outdoors: wear good walking shoes. Pack light. Check the forecast — weather can change and you will be walking outside.
Mobility concerns? Please contact us first. We genuinely want to help identify the best solutions for your needs, and an early conversation makes that much easier. Reach out before you register at retreats@manor-mill.com with any questions or specific accessibility requirements.
The campus has many areas with steps and hills like those pictured here.
